About Nonresident Forms
Nonresident Forms is a small, independent information site for people outside the United States who have to deal with US tax paperwork: owners of a US single-member LLC who must send Form 5472 each year, people trying to get an EIN without a Social Security number, and individuals asked for a Form W-8BEN by a US platform, publisher or broker.
Our pages try to answer the practical questions the official instructions spread across many pages: what to file, in what order, where to send it, and what to do if you missed a deadline or made a mistake. Every date, address, fax number and penalty amount links to the official line it comes from.
What we are not
- We are not the IRS and have no connection with the IRS, the US Treasury, FinCEN or any government agency. We do not use their logos.
- We are not tax professionals. No one writing this site is a CPA, an enrolled agent (EA) or an attorney, and nothing here is tax or legal advice.
- We do not prepare or file forms, and we do not answer questions about individual situations, by email or otherwise. If your situation is not a plain one, a CPA, an enrolled agent or a tax attorney can look at your actual facts.
Who writes this, and how
Nonresident Forms is a small independent project. We do not publish names, and we do not claim any credentials we do not have.
The pages are drafted with AI writing tools, working from the official IRS, FinCEN and platform texts. Before a page goes up:
- every key date, address, number and amount is matched by a script to the exact sentence it comes from in a saved copy of the official page;
- each sentence that states a rule is checked against the official text by three AI models from different companies, and anything they cannot back up with the official wording is removed and replaced with a link;
- the final text is read again before it is published.
No CPA, enrolled agent or attorney has reviewed these pages. That is why we stick to what the official text says, link to it everywhere, and do not give advice about individual situations. How we check explains the process in detail.
Money
The site is free to read. Right now it has no advertising and no paid links. How we make money explains what may change and how paid links would be marked.
